An eight-year-old North Bay angler is pretty proud of this catch made Saturday afternoon on Lake Nipissing's south shore.

Using just a jig and a minnow, Kace Amyotte pulled in a pike measuring 39" and weighing 14.4 lbs.

The Grade 3 student at Saints-Anges school took 15 minutes to wrestle the fish to the surface, says his dad Kyle.

"Kace has been coming out fishing since he was in a car seat," says Kyle, adding that the family tries to get out to their ice shack every weekend.

This is the biggest fish Kace has ever caught, and he couldn't stop talking about it the rest of the day, Kyle told our sister site BayToday.

"It's in the freezer now and it will be dinner tonight," he chuckled.

The avid fisherman says dropping a line in Nipissing this winter has been "amazing, we're doing very well this year."
