Fire Services confirms ammonia leak on Second Line East

Fire Services says the leak was contained and no injuries were reported

Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services have confirmed that they responded to an ammonia leak around 11 a.m.

As reported earlier, fire services and EMS were on scene in the 500 block of Second Line E. this morning. 

In a press release issued this afternoon, fire services confirmed that the immediate area was evacuated, the leak was contained, and EMS was on scene as a precautionary measure.

"(The leak) had no impact to our service levels or business, and our team brought the neighbouring business' team members (referring to the business where the ammonia leak occurred) into our location to ensure their safety and well being," a Reliance Home Comfort spokesperson told SooToday.

Sault Fire Services said there was no evacuation of surrounding residences.

No injuries have been reported and the scene was released at 2 p.m.
