Flower power: Tell someone they're special on Lions' annual Rose Day

The Lions Club of Sault Ste. Marie is taking orders for its 63rd Annual Rose Day.

The club said it is hoping the community will support the Lions Club’s local community initiatives and order flowers by May 24.

In a news release, the club said it is also reaching out to companies and groups to designate one person at their office or workplace to coordinate the sale of flowers to your staff, clientele or customers.

You can can include a “thinking of you” message, thank you to your teacher, best wishes, Happy Birthday or any other message with the flowers that are being delivered on June 19 to the person or business you specify, the Lions Club said.

Free delivery is still being offered within Sault Ste. Marie city limits.

Prices for flowers are: Roses $22/dozen, mixed bouquets $17 and carnations $15/dozen.

You can also visit the Lions Club's table at the Canadian Tire exit on May 10 and 11 and May 17 and 18. Lions Club members will be taking orders for flowers, and fruit cakes as well.

The club has contributed donations over the years to assist St. Vincent Place, support high school bursaries, hearing preservation, the 2310 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps, Salvation Army and many other worthwhile organizations.
