Garden River to host vigil today for missing man Jake Corbiere

Garden River First Nation will be holding a vigil Friday night for Jake Corbiere, who was first reported missing in Sault Ste. Marie nearly a year ago.

The vigil is scheduled to take place at Garden River Community Centre (corner of Highway 17B and Shingwauk Street) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is open to the public.     

Corbiere was last seen March 12, 2023 in the Churchill Avenue area. He is described as approximately 5’10” tall, with a thin build, brown eyes and short brown hair. 

In August 2023, Sault Ste. Marie Police Service announced that it had deployed "significant police resources” in the west end of the city as officers conducted an extensive search for Corbiere.
