Three downtown buildings will have murals painted on their exterior walls this month, members of the Downtown Association board of directors learned this week.

The local Community Art Project has selected artists to paint murals on Homespun Treasures next to Precious Blood Cathedral, Gus’s Pizza at 146 Queen St. East and the Holiday Inn Express at 320 Bay St.

Megan Oldhues will paint a wall at Homespun Treasures.

Josh Morley be at the Holiday Inn Express.

Dino Bento's art will grace the outside of Gus's Pizza.

"Vivid Art Fest will run Sept. 20 to 22 with workshops, walking tours, concerts, multicultural markets and performances, and a film festival," said Nicholas Luck, Downtown Association executive director.

"Venues for the festival will feature the Downtown Plaza, Mane Street Café, the Art Hub at Spring, and the Sault Ste. Marie Museum," Luck said.

The arts, culture and media festival, presented by Tenaris, is a rebranded version of the Summer Moon Festival.

Since Summer Moon Festival and its predecessor Community Art Project started, 19 murals have been painted in the downtown area, 11 of them in Queenstown.
