Habitat for Humanity is relocating in Sault Ste. Marie this spring.

Habitat for Humanity Sault Ste. Marie is moving the ReStore and administrative office this spring to a single space at the Cambrian Mall.

The move will double the amount of square footage that the current ReStore location has, allowing room for a workshop area and displays.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors staff and volunteers I am so proud of what our new restore represents for the history of our organization in Sault Ste. Marie and area and the future it will build for our community. Every purchase supports affordable home ownership allowing families in our community to (outcomes related to affordable home ownership) and will help us take on larger projects to expand our impact," said Chairperson Allyson Schmidt in a news release.

“The current ReStore has become an essential social enterprise non-profit retailer for community members and newcomers looking to improve their home. The move will allow us to further expand staffing and volunteer recruitment while supporting our mission to diminish local waste to better our environmental footprint,” added Director of Operations Derek Paquin.

The Cambrian Mall site was chosen due to its large square footage, foot traffic and vehicle traffic, better parking as well as access to bus transportation, which will ease travel for shoppers and volunteers. It will also have a drop-off area for large donations.
