Sault Ste. Marie Transit has a number of initiatives on tap for the summer.

Among them is the return of the weekend bus service to Pointe Des Chenes Day Park, which runs on Saturday and Sunday until the beginning of September.

Following is a full release from the city on this summer's initiatives:

Sault Ste. Marie Transit is pleased to announce its summer 2024 bus initiatives. 

Every Saturday and Sunday, from June 29 to Sept. 1, Sault Transit serves Pointe Des Chenes Day Park. Two buses per day operate from the downtown terminal (12:15 p.m. and 4:15 p.m.) to the Northern Avenue transfer point at Sault College (12:35 p.m. and 4:35 p.m.) and then to Pointe Des Chenes Day Park (1:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.).

The bus operates on weekends including statutory holidays in which Transit operates. For anyone traveling to Pointe des Chenes utilizing City Transit, regular fees apply ($3.25 each way) children under the age of 12 are free when accompanied by a responsible adult (age 16 years or older). Users of the beach should note that there is no lifeguard on duty and all Transit rules apply.

In addition to the beach, the Pointe Des Chenes Disc Golf course is open. Scorecards are available by searching Pointe Des Chenes Disc Golf Park, on the UDisc App or online.

The Best for Kids program begins, which provides free transit for one adult and children to access City family attractions including the pump track, skateboard park, splash pad, Manzo, and Greco pools.
