Here's where local boaters can register for now-mandatory operator card

All boaters are now required to have a pleasure-craft operator card or risk expensive fines; local sessions begin today at the John Rhodes Community Centre

All boat operators in Canada must now have the pleasure-craft operator card or risk expensive fines. The card is good for life and is recognized across Canada and the United States.

You can get yours in person in Sault Ste. Marie, Iron Bridge or Massey. Anyone 10 and over can register. It costs $75 per person but you pay only if you pass the test.

The fee includes includes the exam, a study guide and the operator card. Email boatingal@gmail.com to register for one of the following sessions:

Saturday, May 11

  • 1-3 p.m.
  • John Rhodes Community centre 
  • Upstairs next to the pool
  • Sault Ste Marie

Sunday, May 12

  • 11 a.m.-1 p.m. 
  • Iron Bridge (town hall chambers) 

Wednesday, May 29

  • 6-8:30 p.m.
  • Massey fire hall, Massey 

Saturday,  June 15

  • 2-4 p.m.
  • NEMI Rec Centre, Little Current
