Highlighting health and wellness (7 photos)

The Chamber of Commerce will host a number of expos through 2017

The Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce presented its second annual Health and Wellness Expo at The Machine Shop Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The day featured a number of exhibitors that included Maritime Travel, The George Leach Centre, The Country Way, Goodlife Fitness, LIFEforia Wellness Club, Sault Ste Marie YMCA, and demonstrations in yoga, zumba and cardio fitness.

This year’s Health and Wellness Expo is the first in a series of events hosted in 2017 by the Chamber at The Machine Shop, said the organization’s CEO, Rory Ring.

Upcoming expo-type showcases include the Home Decor and Renovation Show in March, and the Outdoor Sport and Power Show in May, he said.

“They’re all very representative of the Sault community,” Ring said. “Health and Wellness is one of those that we’re going to start to grow. It marries well with the outdoor component of life here. We’re trying to build it into something that becomes kind of a movement that captures some of the things that are unique within the community.”

According to Brandi Williamson-Meletiou, marketing and events champion for the Chamber of Commerce, events like Saturday’s “provide an opportunity to our members to connect with the community and build awareness of their businesses. It’s nice for the community to understand what is available within Sault Ste. Marie.”
