Saultites are being encouraged to leave the car at home during Bike to Work Week.

The event runs June 1 to 7 and includes several challenges encouraging residents to walk, cycle, carpool, ride-share, take transit or telecommute. 

“Getting around on smaller wheels like rollerblades and scooters manual or electric counts too,” said the Sault Cycling Club in a news release.

Those who log their daily active transportation activities in an online form will be eligible to win prizes.

Bike to Work Week officially kicks off Saturday with the Pump Track Festival at Esposito Park.

  • SATURDAY JUNE 1:

Event Kickoff / Pump Track Festival
Join the celebrations at the Sault’s Pump Track. Music, food and fun events for all ages at Esposito Park, located at the corner of Queen Street West and Andrew Street from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Beginner / Family Group Ride

  • TUESDAY JUNE 4Bike Repair Workshop 
    Join Algoma Bicycle Company at 360 Queen St. E. on Tuesday June 5 at 7 p.m. participate in a Bike Repair Workshop. Registration is now full. 
  • WEDNESDAY JUNE 5Bike to School Day Challenge

  • THURSDAY JUNE 6Bike to Work Week Happy Hour
    Join other biking enthusiasts for Pints at the Downtown Plaza for a Bike to Work Week Happy Hour from 4 – 7 p.m.
  • FRIDAY/SATURDAY JUNE 7/8Try a Sports Day
    Celebrate the end of Bike to Work week by with the City’s Try A Sports Day. Bike to one of several City-run athletic facilities on Friday June and try one of several sports such as pickleball, disc golf, tennis and more.
