Truck operators, take note.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie announced today that reduced load restrictions (5 tonnes per axle) will take effect on city streets first thing Friday morning.

Under the Highway Traffic Act, the province enforces reduced load restrictions on trucks to protect Ontario's highways during spring thaw, when road damage is most likely to occur.

Streets exempted from these regulations are listed online at saultstemarie.ca/bylaws under Traffic By-law 77-200 Schedule ‘N’ – Section 41.

Additional information on seasonal loads can be found on the Ontario Traveller Information website, or by contacting Public Works and Engineering Services at 705-759-5201 or pwt@cityssm.on.ca.
