A local organization is hosting a screening tomorrow night of the documentary film Tantura, a 2022 production that sheds light on an alleged massacre carried out by Israeli soldiers against Palestinian villagers in 1948.

Organized by the group SSM4Palestine, in collaboration with The Klub Community Centre, the screening is scheduled for Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at 642 Queen St. E., Unit 1.

Admission is by donation, with proceeds supporting World Central Kitchen’s efforts in Gaza.

"Our community's exposure to the realities of the Middle East is limited," said Dania Kuzbari, a member of ssm4Palestine, in a news release. "This film screening is an invaluable chance for people from various backgrounds to come together, fostering empathy and engaging in constructive conversations about the conflicts in Palestine and Israel. It is a testament to the universal value of human life."

Saturday's event will also include a keynote speech from Chief Louis Kwissiwa of Netmizaaggamig Nishnaabeg First Nation.
