Looking for something to do Family Day?

Activities are happening at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre, the Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site, the Northern Community Centre and more

If you'd rather not sit around the house watching television all day Family Day, the following is a list of some of the activities happening around the city on Monday, Feb. 19:

Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre

The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre will host Ready For Takeoff from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. featuring half price admission to the museum.

The day includes Mason's IChip Program, Carrie's Fun Time Inflatables, Model Airplane Club, crafts, games, Lorne Carter from Century 21, KC Security Services, and the 155 Royal Canadian Air Cadets.

The Sault Astronomy Club will be on-site with their awesome telescopes for you to see the world beyond, and the Sault Ste Marie Kennel Club will join the festivities with their puppies doing demonstrations on agility, obedience and rally-obedience from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Case’s Music will host a sing-a-long with Sandy for all ages at 1:30 p.m., the Ardvark the Magician Magic Show will happen from noon to 12:45 p.m. Ready to meet the kids are Princess Elsa from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Paw Patrol's Chase from 1 to 3 p.m. Soo Dan Hap-Ki-Do demonstrations will happen at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre concession will be open all day with snacks, food and refreshments available.

Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site

The Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

At 2 p.m., Backyard Broadway will present Beauty and the Beast. Admission is by donation.

Days Inn and Suites

The Days Inn and Suites is pleased to host its 2nd annual Family Day event! This event is free to attend and will feature more than 40 vendors, including some hosting free activities.

The day will include, painting, soap making, cupcake decorating, face painting, and plane building. The kids will enjoy a magic show through out the day and Soo Blaster up the hall to provide food and further entertainment with the arcade.

Northern Community Centre

The Northern Community Centre, 556 Goulais Ave., will host Family Day Sensitive Play from 1 to 2 p.m. on two indoor soccer pitches with lots of room to run and play for children on the autism spectrum, their siblings and friends. Admission is free of charge and families are free to bring their own toys and gear. Please no bikes or plasma cars. Only sock feet or indoor shoes are allowed on the turf.

From 2 to 4 p.m., family sports drop-in activities take place on Turf Field 2 with equipment available for public use. Please call 705-759-5315 for more information.

John Rhodes Community Centre

The John Rhodes Community Centre Arena will be open for public skating on Rink 2 from 1 to 3 p.m.

The pool will be open for lane swimming from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m., and public swimming from 1 to 3 p.m.

To celebrate family Day, Searchmont Resort is giving BOGO pricing (Buy One Get One Free) on all lift tickets (of the same value), 25 per cent off full day rentals (first come, first serve), and 25 per cent off all snow school lessons.

There will be other fun activities to enjoy such as free s’mores and bannock making, snowshoeing tours, live entertainment, photo contests and much more!
