Man arrested for exposing himself at Elliot Lake beach: OPP

A 69-year-old man from Elliot Lake was arrested Saturday for allegedly masturbating at a public beach.

On July 8, 2023, at approximately 1:15 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a complaint about a person "pleasuring and exposing himself" at Spine Beach, according to a news release.

Witnesses reported he was the same man who was at the beach on July 3 doing the same thing, but left before police arrived, the release said.

Police say that when they arrived on Saturday, they saw the man putting his pants on. The uncooperative suspect was subsequently arrested, the release said.  

John Sheran was arrested and charged with two counts of an indecent act in a public place. He is scheduled to appear at a bail hearing on Sunday.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
