Meet nine seniors of magnificent magnanimity (16 photos)

They volunteer a bunch of time, and they got recognized for it by their municipalities

Dictionaries define a volunteer as a person who does something, especially helping others, willingly and without being forced or paid to do it.

Every day, countless senior volunteers – most retired with families raised – demonstrate their value by remaining active members of the community, volunteering at their church or various organizations.

Recently, the Seniors and Disabled Person's Advisory Committee hosted its 24th annual Senior Appreciation Barbecue.

This year, eight municipalities within the catchment area recognized nine area seniors.

The 2018 Seniors of the Year are:
    •    Nick and Sandy Polandra, presented by Hilton Township councillor Bob Jerrard
    •    Paula Cormier, presented by Hilton Village Mayor Robert Hope
    •    Bryon Hall, presented by St. Joseph Township councillor Lorraine Aelick
    •    Ruth Stevens, presented by Jocelyn Township Reeve Mark Henderson
    •    Diane Adamson, presented by Johnson Township Bob Gjos
    •    Suzanne Evoy, presented by Laird councillor Frank Turco
    •    Brian King, presented by McDonald, Meredith and Aberdeen councillor Jean Robbins
    •    Dale Barr, presented by Tarbutt Township councillor Ruth Wigmore
