Moose collision in northern Ontario kills one, injures two

Ontario Provincial Police say one person has died after a collision with a moose on Highway 11 North, near Temagami.

The vehicle collided with a moose and then left the roadway around 10 p.m. Sunday night, police said, closing the highway in both directions for more than six hours.

A 39-year-old was declared dead at the scene. Police are not releasing the person's name, gender, or home municipality.

Two other people in the vehicle were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers from the Temiskaming Detachment of the OPP, Temagami Ambulance Service, and the Temagami and Marten River Fire Departments responded to the accident.
