NORTH BAY — While freezing rain caused many travel plans this morning to fall through and closed area highways, that didn’t stop Daniel Dupuis from traveling safely along area streets.

No, he wasn’t comfortable in his vehicle equipped with studded winter tires, he was doing his traveling, yes on ice skates!

The 40-year-old truck driver skated down a number of area streets.  He says some motorists even stopped to take his picture.

“I went down Fraser Street from Chippewa to Princess,” Dupuis told BayToday.ca about his Boxing Day ice adventure.

“It was something that I wanted to do just to have fun.”

Dupuis doesn’t play hockey but he says he enjoys skating with his daughter and son when he isn’t working.

Unfortunately for Dupuis, the freezing rain warning ended around 3:30 today leaving most of the icy streets now slushy.
