You're not going to believe how big Ziggy Hecker's pumpkin was this year

This year's pumpkin decorating contest may have been one for the record books with the most entries.

The event, hosted by the St. Joseph Island Horticultural Society registered 50 children and 19 adult entries.

"We had a very successful event this year," said society president, Sandie Leith following the afternoon event. "With so many excellent and creative pumpkins to choose from it was a tight race to select a favourite."

Following a tour of the St. Joseph Island Central School gymnasium checking out the various entries, many guests indulged in a cup of tea a tasty treat.  Youngsters participated in various games available.

Sadie Fairservice won for her very large cartoon face pumpkin, which she grew, Leith added.

Also, Ziggy Hecker's 746 pound pumpkin was also on display in the school parking lot.

The list of category winners were not available.

Among the children's categories included Best decorated, Best dressed, Funniest, Scariest, Most Creative or Unique, Cartoon or Famous Character and in the adult category, Modern, Traditional, Painted, and 'All in the details'.
