Looking for a way to dispose of your natural cut Christmas tree once the needles start to drop?

Clean North will begin accepting Christmas trees on Boxing Day at the Cambrian Mall near the former Winners entrance. Tree collection runs until Jan. 13.

Volunteers will be on-site during afternoon hours starting Jan. 1 to assist those who require help unloading their trees.

Collected trees will be chipped into garden mulch which will be available to the public by donation this coming spring.

In addition to trees, Clean North will also be collecting donations of gently used books, magazines, CDs and cassettes, and DVDs and VHS tapes for the Friends of the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library as well as blankets and towels for the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society.

Need help getting your tree to the Clean North chipping depot? JustJunk will come pick it up from your home for free on Saturday, Jan. 6.

Pickups must be within Sault Ste. Marie city limits and appointments are required. Residents can book appointments online here.

Trees must be outside at assigned pickup time (driveway or curbside is preferred).

For more information about this program, please visit the Clean North website.
