Public Health Ontario has reported 4,456 new cases of COVID-19 today (April 11).
Today's report includes 2,617 recoveries and 21 new deaths.
The April 11 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:
- 32,817 active cases, which is up from 30,999 yesterday
- 1,513 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ontario, down from 1,524 reported yesterday.
- There are 605 COVID patients in intensive care units (up from 585 yesterday) and 382 COVID patients on ventilators (down from 384 reported yesterday)
- The province reported 56,378 tests were processed yesterday
- Another 31,836 tests are still under investigation and/or being processed. To date, 13.14 million tests have been completed.
Variants of concern (Ontario-wide)
- 14,387 lab-confirmed cases of the UK variant strain of COVID-19 (B.1.1.7).
- 78 cases of B.1.351 (also known as the South African variant).
- 134 cases of P.1, which is the variant strain that originated in Brazil.
- Another 24,769 cases have screened positive with a mutation detected, but the lineage for the variant strain not yet sequenced.
- According to Public Health Ontario, there are delays between specimen collection and the testing required to confirm a variant of concern. As such, the reports can change and can differ from past case counts publicly reported.
Vaccines
- There were 94,794 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered on April 10, which is down from 104,783 doses on April 9.
- As of 8 p.m. on April 10, the province reported 3,139,743 doses of vaccine against COVID-19 have been administered.
- In total, 333,150 people have been fully vaccinated.
Public Health Ontario has confirmed 386,608 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 346,239 recoveries and 7,552 deaths, of which 3,907 were individuals living in long-term care facilities.
