OPP drug bust nets cocaine, cash — and nunchucks

Two suspects face multiple charges, including possession for the purpose of trafficking

It was a fairly typical drug bust — except for the weapon found at the scene.

The OPP's East Algoma detachment executed a warrant at an Elliot Lake apartment last month, seizing $77,000 worth of cocaine, $2,700 in cash, a digital scale, dime bags, four cell phones — and one set of nunchuks.

Two suspects were arrested.

Brandon MacDonald, 36, of Elliot Lake is charged with:

  •  Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • ·Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • ·Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Tevontay Reid, 28, of no fixed address is charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Breach of recognizance (two counts)

Both suspects are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Jan. 11, 2024.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and both are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
