ROTARY CLUB

*************************
The 96th Rotaryfest Community Day Parade presented by Brookfield will make its way down Queen Street East on Saturday, July 15, 2017. This year’s theme is 'Canada 150: North Strong Free'.

Local businesses, organizations, community groups, clubs, and special interest groups looking to get involved in one of Sault Ste. Marie’s longest standing traditions can download a parade package from www.rotaryfest.com or visit the Rotary office at 364 Queen Street East.

Parade Marshal David Marshall encourages the public to participate. “In these tough economic times, it is good to see businesses and organizations contributing their time and efforts to this great event. This parade is enjoyed by thousands of kids, parents, grandparents, families, and friends.”

There are prizes to be won in a number of categories, one of which is Best Kinetic Sculpture sponsored by Brookfield which has a top prize of $250 and a commemorative plaque and photo. Kinetic sculptures are human-powered works of art such as backpack puppets, bicycle-powered structures, and push entries.

Not only are these entries “green”, but they are great for interacting with the crowd. The other categories are: Grand Prize Entry, Best Entry Depicting Theme, Best Non-Professionally Designed Entry, and Best Professionally Designed Entry.

The parade lineup is returning to Queen Street after several years of being on Bay Street. The lineup will begin on Queen Street East at the base of Simpson Street and end at the base of Elizabeth Street, moving the start of the parade from Pim Street to the corner of Simpson and Queen Street East. Entries are asked to make sure they read instructions for lining up in the parade package.

Rotaryfest, The Sault’s Summer Festival will be taking place in Clergue Park July 13 to 15. Savour the lip-smackin' BBQ at Ribfest, boogie to continuous free entertainment on our two music stages, be Canada-proud at the Ontario 150 Tour events, get hands-on and creative in the Tenaris PlayZone, fly through the air on the carnival rides, delight in the family memories being created and so much more at Rotaryfest!
