A pedestrian was killed on Highway 17 at Birch Lake Road in Massey after being struck by a commercial vehicle early this morning, OPP said in a news release.
Manitoulin OPP responded to the incident shortly before 2 a.m. A 33-year-old from Sables-Spanish Rivers Township was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Highway 17 was closed in all directions for about seven hours and has since reopened.
The incident remains under investigation. It is not known at this time if any charges are pending.
