Kidney Clothes is closing Northern Ontario operations based in Sault Ste. Marie due to long-reach of COVID-19 on the public's shopping and donation habits.

"The decision comes after careful consideration of the changing post-pandemic shopping and donation patterns which have impacted the financial sustainability of our collections," says a news release. "Kidney Clothes is grateful for the many years of generous support from the people of Sault Ste. Marie and surrounding Northern Ontario communities. Your donations have played a vital role in supporting our mission to improve the lives of individuals affected by kidney disease."

The office will shut July 26 and donations are no longer being accepted, adds the release.

Kidney Clothes says it will continue its ties to Value Village and will continue to benefit from donations made directly to the Sault Ste. Marie Value Village location at 248 Northern Ave E.

The release added the decision has no impact on the Sault Ste. Marie Chapter of the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
