Puppies! (8 photos)

Northern Critters in Need has a lot of them available

Noel and Zahboo were the hit of the party.

The two young playful pups were part of a gang of canines hanging out at Pet Valu on Second Line Sunday afternoon as Northern Critters in Need hosted an animal adoption drive.

Based in Ignace, Ont., the organization focuses on rescuing and rehoming dogs and cats in need from northern Ontario reserves.

“At this time of year, we try to get the dogs out as soon as we can so they don’t freeze to death. That’s why there could be more coming now, because there’s a big push to get them out,” said Northern Critters in Need volunteer Sherri Duke.

As much as new forever-homes are needed for these lovely animals, foster homes are also in high demand.

“There’s not a lot awareness about how important it is to get these dogs out before they freeze to death or die of injuries,” she said. “More people need to be aware of these rescues up north.”

For more information about the animals available for adoption, follow Northern Critters in Need on Facebook or visit the organization’s website.
