Notre-Dame-du-Sault held its annual Noel Portage recently to collect non-perishable food items for those in need locally.

Staff and students at École Notre-Dame-du-Sault continued their Christmas community sharing campaign this year.

The goal of the campaign is to support families living in need locally.

Between Nov. 20 and 24 elementary and secondary school students collected non-perishable food items that would eventually fill a canoe as part of the “Noël Portage” school project. Numerous activities were held at the school to help generate donations.

The initiative was first launched roughly 15 years ago. This year, no less than 30 boxes of food items were collected and placed in the canoe.

The items will be donated to Christmas Cheer following a portage from the school cafetorium to the organization's truck.
