Sault Social Services appoints first-ever chief operating officer

Social Services Sault Ste. Marie has appointed its first-ever chief operating officer after an internal restructuring.

The role goes to Louie Bruni, a graduate of Algoma University who has been with the organization for more than six years.

"Louie has continuously impressed with his professionalism, drive and commitment to the organization and community," Mike Nadeau, CEO of the Social Services said in making the announcement.

The District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board (Social Services) has announced the appointment of Louie Bruni as its first Chief Operating Officer.

The COO position is a result of internal restructuring and in this role Bruni will be responsible for the operational oversight, leadership and development of teams working within Homelessness and Housing, Income Assistance and Early Years.

Bruni has been with Social Services for over six years working in many different capacities. Most recently Bruni was part of the Senior Leadership Team, responsible for employee engagement, recruitment and labour management to support operational outcomes.

He graduated with his BA Honours from Algoma University followed by his Master of Arts from the University of Windsor and is also a Certified Human Resources Professional. Before moving back to Sault Ste. Marie in 2017, Bruni worked in a strategic engagement capacity for the City of London. Bruni will assume the role in January.

“I am grateful for this new opportunity and thrilled to be leading the operations at Social Services," Bruni said. 

"I have led the Human Resources team for a number of years and supported the organization from that perspective. We have a very passionate and capable team and I am excited to work alongside everyone as we continue to serve the community.”
