School board recognizes two outstanding local students with $500 scholarships

Two local students are among those named as recipients of the annual Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon (CSC Nouvelon) Vision Scholarships.

École secondaire Notre-Dame-du-Sault graduating students Daphnée Vachon and Ella Dubreuil each received $500.

"Laureates, selected by the principal of their school, reflect the CSC Nouvelon vision: Thriving French-language Catholic students, proud and ready to take their place in society," says a news release issued today.

This year, the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon awards its Vision Scholarships to outstanding graduating class students who have fulfilled the requirements of their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Valued at $500, the scholarship is awarded annually to two students from each CSC Nouvelon secondary school and one from Carrefour Options+. Laureates, selected by the principal of their school, reflect the CSC Nouvelon vision: “Thriving French-language Catholic students, proud and ready to take their place in society.”

This year, this scholarship was awarded to Daphnée Vachon and Ella Dubreuil from École secondaire Notre-Dame-du-Sault (Sault Ste. Marie) during their secondary schools’ graduation ceremony held on June 26 at Grand Gardens.

The scholarships were also awarded to the following students from other CSC Nouvelon schools in June 2024 during the secondary schools’ graduation ceremonies.

  • ÉSC Jeunesse-Nord (Blind River) - Addison Bond and Mariska Lamothe
  • ÉSC Trillium (Chapleau) - Chloé Fortin and Xander Jaworski
  • ÉSC Champlain (Chelmsford) - Alexis Blais and Jonathan Houle
  • ÉSC La Renaissance (Espanola) - Lauren Langlois and Camryn Ramsay
  • Carrefour Options (Sudbury) - Alex Bechard             
  • Collège Notre-Dame (Sudbury - Kloley Koko and Xavier Lefebvre
  • ÉS du Sacré-Cœur (Sudbury) - Nadia Guillemette and Zachary Champagne
  • ÉSC l’Horizon (Val Caron) - Katrine Tessier and Zackary Vaillancourt
  • ÉS Saint-Joseph (Wawa) - Mya Rilley and Ethan Austin                                   

The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon offers a French-language Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSC Nouvelon provides a quality learning environment and academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 5,650 students enrolled in 27 elementary and 10 secondary schools.
