Helping Hands, a local non-profit and registered charity whose mission is to support the community by caring and sharing donations of household items and basic needs, has a new store manager.

Chrystina Landriault takes over her new role at the store, located at 346 Wellington St. W., after overcoming challenges and showing her resilience, the organization says.

"Her dedication, understanding of our clients' needs, and personal experiences bring invaluable insight into her role," Helping Hands' president Robert Peace said.

Helping Hands, a cornerstone of community support and volunteerism in Sault Ste Marie, is proud to announce the appointment of Chrystina Landriault as the new Store Manager of the Helping Hands Community Store. Chrystina steps into her role backed by an impressive 150 volunteer hours, completing a program that paved the way for her to join the team as a full-time volunteer manager.

Chrystina's journey to her new position is one of remarkable resilience and passion. After battling addiction, Chrystina found solace and purpose within the Helping Hands community through the John Howard Society who facilitated her probation terms from an earlier incident with the law.

"This opportunity means the world to me," Chrystina said. "I've faced my challenges, but finding a home here at Helping Hands has given me a sense of belonging and a chance to give back in a meaningful way. I'm thrilled to take on this role and make a difference every day."

Helping Hands president, Robert Peace, expressed his gratitude and confidence in Chrystina's appointment.

"We are incredibly fortunate to have Chrystina join us in this capacity. Her dedication, understanding of our clients' needs, and personal experiences bring invaluable insight into her role as Store Manager. Chrystina embodies the spirit of Helping Hands, and her enthusiasm is contagious. She completed her 150 hours community service, has taken the challenge of addiction head on and has decided to stay on full time to help with this great organization."

Despite Helping Hands blessing of over 100 volunteers, the challenge of securing full-time commitment remains.

"Most of our volunteers are unable to give full-time. Chrystina stepping into this role full-time is a testament to her commitment and our shared vision," Peace added.

He also shared hopeful news regarding the future of the position. "We are optimistic about securing funding for the position later this year, ensuring that our operations can continue to benefit from such dedicated leadership."

Chrystina's role as Store Manager is pivotal in the day-to-day operations and the overall mission of Helping Hands. Her leadership is expected to bring a new energy to the store, enhancing the organization's ability to serve the community effectively.
