Taking place on May 7 2022 at Century 21: The Rink in the Machine Shop Plaza, Strong Minds Run for Change is returning to an in-person format for its fifth year. This 5k run has been dedicated to raising awareness and raising funds for mental health issues and community programming geared towards aiding individuals who may be struggling with their health.
Strong Minds are thrilled to once again be able to meet, run together and have the visibility of the community. In the past two years the event was restricted to a virtual format with participants running in their own neighbourhoods. With the event returning to its waterfront route, runners will once again meet and unite for this annual event. Strong Minds Run for Change has been a fixture of Children’s Mental Health Week which runs from May 2 to May 8. Strong Minds has once again teamed with Algoma Family Services to provide support for a litany of events that will take place during the week dedicated to funding local youth programs.
“We are so excited to be back in person running the event this year.” says Strong Minds CEO Amanda Lambert “We received incredible results from our virtual events in past years but bringing it back to the downtown area will be special for us. We already have great support from many local businesses who are aiding our mission of raising awareness for youth who have mental health struggles. Each year we have a ton of fun getting out and working our bodies and minds together.”
Check in for the event opens at 9:00 a.m. with the run getting underway at 10:00 a.m. Tickets for this event can be purchased for $30 a person or $125 for groups of five. Participants can register ahead of time here or here. Registration will also be available at the time of the event. If you are unable to attend the event, donations can also be made through the Strong Minds website. Strong Minds is still offering a virtual option for those who wish to run on their own time.
Strong Minds hopes that our community comes together to show their support for this amazing cause.
