June 9 is fast approaching, and one local high school is buzzing with excitement and anticipation.

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Superior Heights will be hosting its second annual Relay for Life!

During its inaugural year, Superior Heights students raised over $15,000 for the event!
On April 27, Superior Heights had a kick-off assembly for all 7-12 classes to explain what Relay for Life is, where the funds raised go, how to register and what the event day will look like. One teacher, Andrea Stone-Pietramale, who successfully completed her cancer treatment, was the guest speaker at the rally and shared her story with students.

Since the kick-off assembly, students have been creating their teams and fundraising for the event. Currently, students have raised over $20,000! Students are excited and eager to participate in such a worthwhile event as cancer affects everyone. It is a unifying experience for students and staff to work towards a common goal, help the community and truly show that together, we can be bigger than cancer.

Opening ceremonies will begin at 12:30 p.m. with Mayor Provenzano helping kick-start the event.

Events will be running all day/night including themed laps, yoga & a fitness class, field games such as capture the flag, flag football and spike ball, lip sync battles, air band contest, karaoke and much more.

There will be a Survivors Lap at 7 p.m. and the iconic Luminary Ceremony at 9:30 p.m.

What will the final total be this year? Wait and see!
