Aug. 25 1:20 p.m. update
Platoon Chief Jeff Lajoie told SooToday that firefighters received a 911 call at 3:05 p.m. on Thursday. Upon arrival, the engine compartment of a GMC Jimmy was on fire.
There were no injuries reported or other vehicles damaged in the incident, said Lajoie. The fire was not deemed suspicious in nature.
The vehicle's owner spoke with firefighters at the scene. The Jimmy was extensively damaged and had to be towed away.

A Black GMC Jimmy caught on fire in the parking lot of Medical Centre Pharmacy near Queen Street East and Simpson Street.
Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services arrived on scene around 3:10 p.m. and quickly put it out.
The vehicle was parked and there did not appear to be anyone in it.
Flames were seen coming from under the hood of the vehicle.
Firefighters broke a window on the vehicle to access the inside and douse the inside and outside with water.
Witnesses on scene did not know who the owner of the vehicle was.
