How much fun can you have in one minute?

You've seen it on television, the Internet, or perhaps you have participated in one of the many 60-second challenges of A Minute to Win It.

Customers to the Tilt'n Hilton Steak House Sunday received more than a meal and beverage, but live entertainment that was filled with giggles and chuckles.

The Hilton Beach eatery was host of A Minute to Win It, the perfect recipe to shake the winter blues. It's the third year the restaurant hosted the event. 

Ten teams of two registered for the original date of Feb. 24, but due to inclement weather that event was rescheduled. 

This year's theme was plaid and many of the participants were dressed in various plaid combinations from scarves to shirts.

Each contestant received various goodies in their registration bags which included event rules to coasters and whistles. 

On tap Sunday, 12 challenges that included Suck It Up, Stack Attack, Sort the Skittles, Move the Blue, Kleenex Race, Scoop Face, Bean Bag Toss, Flip the Bag, Ping Pong, Cotton Ball, Sour Ball Swingers, and Charades.

Originally, Cindy Hore and Karen Garside organized the first event, a way to shake the winter blues.  

Fran Paterson, a participant of the first event, inquired whether an encore would be scheduled. 

Hore reportedly said it was a lot of work but Gill(ian) James and Debbie Tremblay stepped up to the plate offered to help.

In 2018, Peterson, James and Tremblay spent about three weeks of planning and brainstorming.

"It's a cost effective event and it's fun," Tremblay said.

"Debbie kind of took the bull by the horns and searched for different games." Paterson added. "It took a few of us to put it all together."

The trio agreed – A Minute to Win It is a great afternoon of fun that has brought the community together with participants from St. Joseph Island to Sault Ste. Marie.

A Minute to Win It first aired March 14, 2010. 

Laughter is the best medicine and countless variations exist online, applicable to any gathering from birthday parties and holidays to breaking the winter blues. 

Top three winners received prizes donated by Cindy and Chris Hore of the Tilt'n Hilton.

First place: Kelly Baker and Sherry Dubois, both of Sault Ste. Marie

Second place: Nolan Parker (Laird Township) and Kayla Gibson (St. Joseph Island)

Third place: Julie Moore and Karen Garside, both of St. Joseph Island.
