Mayor Christian Provenzano, Members of City Council and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee would like to announce the 2019 Sault Ste. Marie Sports Hall of Fame Inductees.
John Greenwood – Figure Skating, Builder
- Figure Skating Skater, Official, and Administrator for over 50 years
- International Skating Judge and Referee in over 20 countries for 25 years
- 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics; Judge – Pairs
- 2006 Torino Winter Olympics; Judge – Ice Dancing
- Officiated over 15 World Championships
Heikki Kinnunen – Cross-Country Skiing, Coach
- Coach of the Soo Finnish Ski Team for over two decades
- Served as Northern Ontario Divisional Cross Country Coach
- Established the Youth Skill Development Cross Country Ski Program
- Builder and Advocator of Infrastructure and Programming of Cross Country Skiing in Sault Ste. Marie
A formal ceremony to recognize this year’s Sports Hall of Fame inductees will take place on June 13, 2019 at the Civic Centre.
