Sault Ste. Marie's search for a new city chief administrative officer is on the agenda for Monday's council meeting.

Mayor Matthew Shoemaker, chair of the CAO selection committee, will provide an update on the work of the committee, which met four times behind closed doors in December to consider applications.

No further meetings of the committee have been announced, but the mayor tells SooToday that "the committee's work continues and Monday’s addendum report will provide an update on the status of the process and search, which must be finalized before month's end."

A closed meeting of city council is scheduled one hour before Monday's regular council meeting "to consider one item concerning labour relations or employee negotiations" but there's no indication whether that relates to CAO recruitment or another matter.

White has served notice that he'll retire at the end of this month after 35 years with the city.

One hundred and eight candidates have applied to replace him.

By early last month, headhunter Feldman Daxon Partners had recommended a shortlist of 10 applicants.

The CAO selection committee is comprised of the mayor, Ward 3 Coun. Angela Caputo and Ward 4 Coun. Marchy Bruni.
