VIDEO: Highway driver narrowly misses head-on crash with transport

VAL RITA — The driver of a passenger vehicle on Highway 11 narrowly avoided a head-on crash with a transport truck making a dangerous pass. 

James Bay OPP has shared dash cam video of a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) passing a vehicle on Highway 11 in Val Rita yesterday. The video shows the driver of an oncoming passenger vehicle hitting the shoulder of the road to avoid a collision. 

The incident was reported to police and the 29-year-old driver of the transport was stopped five minutes after the call and charged with making a dangerous pass.

"The OPP relies on the public to ensure our roads stay safe," police said in a Facebook post. "If you witness any dangerous driving behaviour, please don't hesitate to report it to us, your information could make all the difference."
