Weekend garage sale to benefit Bible Fellowship church

In 2008, Bible Fellowship Church became owners of the historic Hiawatha Lodge which is located at 756 Landslide Rd. The old lodge was located on a five and a half-acre parcel of land at the crest of Landslide Hill within the Hiawatha Highlands area. Now upwards of 150 attendees gather to worship weekly. For its members, the church has served as an excellent location to host Sunday services, a variety of youth ministries, small groups, adult ministries, summer camps, family events, café, life celebrations and much more. As a welcomed member of the community, Bible Fellowship Church continues to work in active partnership with its neighbours - the Soo Finish Ski Club and Hiawatha Highlands.

Converting the large historic building into an appropriate church facility hasn’t been without obstacles. The building features three floors, a cafeteria, two kitchens, a small gymnasium, a library and many varied use rooms on each floor. One room, known as the conference room, has become a gathering spot for members who are unable to access the main worship hall located on the buildings top level. At this time, the large worship hall is only accessible via a daunting flight of stairs which for some members, are insurmountable. The conference room houses round tables, chairs and the audio visual technology required to stream the service from the main hall to the lower level. Approximately 20-30 members of the congregation utilize this space each week to tune in.

To improve building accessibility across all three levels, Bible Fellowship has committed to the installation of an elevator lift at a cost upwards of $100,000. In an effort to raise funds for the elevator project, Bible Fellowship Church will be hosting an outdoor garage sale fundraiser on Saturday, May 11 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. (event will be rescheduled if required due to inclement weather). This multi-family garage sale will feature a wide variety of household items with something for everyone.
