Weekend Outlook: The cold snap is almost over

The high pressure responsible for the sunshine we should see for much of the weekend will also help keep any snow from falling throughout the weekend

We will start this weekend with temperatures well below seasonal value and end the weekend with daytime highs several degrees above normal.  Fast-forward to the middle of next week, and we could even see temperatures climb back above the freezing mark.

The high pressure responsible for the sunshine we should see for much of the weekend will also help keep any snow from falling throughout the weekend.

A cold north wind brings even colder air into the region on Friday as temperatures struggle to reach -13°C under partly cloudy skies. Even just a light northerly breeze will bring windchill values in the minus twenties.

Clouds on Saturday morning will quickly clear out to bring mostly sunny skies in the afternoon, with daytime highs of -8°C. Skies become mostly cloudy on Sunday as temperatures rise to -3°C on a warm gusty southwest wind.

The warming trend continues into Monday, with the next chance of snow arriving on Tuesday.
