Workweek Outlook: One kind of normal day this week

We could see trace amounts of snow this coming week but nothing requiring any effort to clear.  However, the long-range forecast suggests a storm system could hit the Great Lakes region next week

The normal weather we expect for December arrived in November, while November's usual weather moved in for the end of 2023. This unusual combination of weather leaves us without snow and unusually warm temperatures to start 2024. Keep in mind that the start of January typically brings overnight lows in the minus teens and daytime highs closer to -5°C for the Sault region.

So, where does January take us? The next week's weather continues to bring daily temperatures closer to the freezing mark than the normal values for this time of year.  However, we will see a one-day cool-down this coming shortened workweek.  Thursday will finally feel more like winter but without the snow.

Snow? We could see trace amounts of snow this coming week but nothing requiring any effort to clear.  However, the long-range forecast suggests a storm system could hit the Great Lakes region next week.  So, we'll watch the forecast to see if the current weather pattern changes and winter finally arrives.

Skies will slowly cloud over on Tuesday, with temperatures near +1°C in the afternoon. Light snow arrives in the evening, with a trace to 2cm of snow accumulating overnight.

Another 1-2cm of light snow is possible Wednesday morning, but skies partially clear later in the day.  A cold north wind arrives in the afternoon to quickly drop temperatures from the daytime high of +1°C at noon.

Thursday brings a mix of sun and clouds with morning lows below -10 °C and afternoon temperatures near 5°C. Friday will be mostly cloudy, with daytime highs climbing back up to -1°C.
