Climate records for the last 30 years suggest that this coming Friday is usually, on average, the coldest day of the year. However, that won't be the case this year. Instead, we will see the warmest weather of the workweek arrive by Thursday and Friday - and it will likely come with some rain.

Slightly warmer air moves in Monday, with daytime highs of -2°C under mostly cloudy skies. Gusty southerly winds will make it feel several degrees cooler.

Tuesday will again be mostly cloudy, with afternoon temperatures near -3°C. The cloud cover lingers into Wednesday, and warmer air moves into the region, with daytime highs climbing to +1°C.  Temperatures should stay near freezing overnight.

Showers are likely on Thursday as daytime highs climb to +3°C. The wet weather ends on Friday, but the cloud cover remains, with temperatures still a few degrees above freezing.

Temperatures drop slightly this coming weekend but remain several degrees above normal for the end of January.
