NEWS RELEASE

JAMES BAY FRONTIER

************************* Nov. 23, 2006 – Low-priced snowmobile permits are on sale across Northeastern Ontario.

But the premium early-bird price goes up after the end of the month.

The best reason to buy the permit now is to take advantage of the early season rate offered by the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs.

Right now the cost of a full-season permit is only $180.

That rate goes up to $230 after December 1.

Permits are also considered nice holiday gifts.

The OFSC will allow you to buy your permit on or before December 1 at the lower early-season price.

Snowmobile permits are on sale at most dealers and snowmobile service centres across the north.

James Bay Frontier encourages sledders to think ahead and buy their permits now.

Environment Canada is predicting higher precipitation than normal for most of northern Ontario for the coming winter.

Permits are mandatory for snowmobiling in Ontario.

"As usual, we expect another good winter in our part of the country," says James Bay Frontier executive director Jennifer Rowe. "We're confident this will mean another season of excellent snowmobiling, not just for the local riders, but for the tourists as well."

Rowe says snowmobiling continues to be a vital element in the year round tourism effort in Northeastern Ontario. "We encourage riders to buy their permits locally to ensure that the money for trail development and maintenance stays in the north."

Riders are also urged to take time in the coming month to tune up their machines for reliability and safety.
