************************* Will Wal-Mart customers predict Canada's next Stanley Cup champions? Wal-Mart Canada merchandise sales, customer polls reveal hockey's most loyal fans

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO, April 19 - An ongoing poll at Walmart.ca and store sales data show that Vancouver Canucks fans lead Canadian team supporters for optimism and team-logo merchandise bought at Wal-Mart stores nationwide.

With more than 800 responses to the question "What Canadian team are you pulling for in the playoffs?" 48 percent of respondents chose the Canucks; 30 percent are supporting the Ottawa Senators; and twenty-two percent picked the Calgary Flames.

The poll is ongoing.

Wal-Mart's merchandise sales data indicate Canucks fans are also most likely to wear their team's logo.

Sales of Canucks licensed apparel and merchandise - from t-shirts and jerseys, to ball caps and runners - lead the pack.

Senators fans lead as the most loyal fans among a different crowd.

Sales data for kids' jerseys suggest a popularity and team spirit among the younger generations.

In fact, Senators kids' jerseys are outselling Flames kids' jerseys nearly two-to-one.

Flames fans dominate when it comes to sales of NHL collectibles and memorabilia.

Items such as miniature helmets, replica pucks and miniature hockey sticks supporting the Calgary team are popular with their fans, and sales data indicates a 35 percent lead over their next closest challenger, the Canucks' collectibles.

NHL hockey items available in select stores include:
