Colts defeat Braves for third straight win

The Colts improved to 3-1 and have a firm hold on second place in the high school football senior division standings after a 22-6 win over the Braves at Rocky DiPietro Field. Bawating falls to 1-2-1. Korah opened the scoring in the first quarter as Jon Day scampered into the end zone from two yards out to give the Colts a 6-0 lead. Pat Koski put Korah ahead 13-0 at the half with a 14 yard touchdown run. The Braves' Joe Oldham scored a touchdown from one yard out late in the third quarter to bring Bawating back into the game trailing 13-6. After the Colts' Travis Tormala kicked a 25 yard field goal, Matt Parker sealed the win for Korah with an interception return of 90 yards for a touchdown to give his team a 22-6 lead. Parker made the play with the Braves offense clicking and driving down the field. Koski led Korah with 126 yards rushing on 19 carries while Day added 96 yards on 26 carries. Quarterback Tyler Rooley completed three of four passes for 62 yards. Jordan Morin led the defense with seven tackles and a fumble recovery while Tyson Vanderloo and Alex Seminiuk recorded five tackles each. Oldham ran for 61 yards on 10 carries to lead the Braves while quarterback Andrew Hatten completed five of 20 passes for 113 yards. Receiver Kyle Gauthier caught all five passes for 113 yards and completed a 49-yard option pass to Hatten. Drew Craig made 10 tackles, 1.5 sacks and blocked a kick on defense while Oldham made six tackles and Tim Young five. Action continues on Friday as the Sir James Dunn Eagles (1-2) meet the White Pines Wolverines (1-2) at Rocky DiPietro Field beginning at 7:30 p.m. In junior play on Thursday, Bawating defeated Korah 20-7. On Friday, Sir James Dunn visits White Pines at 4:15 p.m. On Saturday, St. Basil visits St. Mary's in the junior game at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's while the same two schools meet in the senior contest at 1 p.m. at Rocky DiPietro Field.
