Colts take early lead, beat Wolverines in junior football

The offence was spread around on Friday for the Korah Colts junior team as five different players had touchdowns in a junior high school football win over the White Pines Wolverines.

The Colts improved to 4-1 with a 40-6 victory over White Pines Thursday at Superior Heights.

Korah spread the ball around throughout the day with Cole Barbeau leading the way by running for 53 yards on three carries, which included a touchdown run of 46 yards.

Arwin Shafee (three yards), Owen Allen (seven yards), and Wesley Pomeroy (17 yards) also had touchdown runs for the Colts.

Austin Schwartz-Montgomery caught a 30-yard pass from Logan McGregor for Korah’s other major while also kicking five converts and a 20-yard field goal in the game.

A safety completed the Korah scoring in the game.

Adam Gibson had a big day offensively for the Wolverines with 114 yards rushing on 13 carries, including a touchdown run of 80 yards. On the defensive side of the ball, Gibson had four tackles and an assisted tackle.

Josh Boyer had 50 yards rushing for White Pines on six carries while picking up four tackles defensively.

Jack Tuckett had four tackles and an assisted tackle defensively for Korah while Tyler Caruso also had four tackles.

Dylan Knittle had four tackles for White Pines.

Korah will wrap up the regular season next Friday against Superior Heights, who will enter the game unbeaten at 5-0. Kickoff for the game at Superior Heights is set for 4:45 p.m. with the senior clubs from both schools capping off the day with a 7:30 p.m. contest.

White Pines, who fell to 0-5 with Friday’s loss, will face St. Mary’s next Thursday to wrap up regular season action for both teams.
