Led by a solid defensive effort, the Sir James Dunn Eagles handed the Bawating Braves a 14-0 loss on Friday night in high school football senior division action at Rocky DiPietro Field.

Holding the Braves to a mere 48 yards rushing and 56 yards passing, the Eagles cruised to a 14-0 win to improve to two wins and a tie on the season. Bawating falls to 1-2.

Eagles punter Kareem Pelltier's 53 yard punt single 58 seconds into the second quarter was all the Eagles would need as their defense continued to hold Bawating in check.

Quarterback Frank Weise scored on a one yard keeper while Nigel Milne scampered in from 10 yards out for the Eagles. Matt Irving kicked a convert.

Mike Beharriell led the Eagles defensively with three tackles and two sacks while Jordan Running added 4.5 tackles. J.J. Bergamin recorded four tackles, D.J. Idehen recorded his third interception of the season and Andrew Pothier also recorded a sack.

Peter McGonegal paced the Eagles offense with 75 yards rushing on 13 carries while Kofi Osei added 53 yards on 10 carries and Milne carried six times for 38 yards. The Braves held to Eagles to 22 yards passing.

For Bawating, Alex Breton made nine tackles, Kyle Lanteigne 7.5, Geoff Olar six, Kyle Oldham 5.5 and Dan Vaz 4.5. Lanteigne also recovered a fumble.

Kyle Gauthier caught four passes for 40 yards while Brad Radbourne was the top rusher at 23 yards on 14 carries. Quarterback Mike Storozuk completed six of 12 passes.

Week three action continues on Saturday as White Pines tackles Korah at 1 p.m. at Rocky DiPietro Field.

*** JUNIOR:

In junior action on Friday afternoon, the Eagles defeated the Braves 8-6. Geoff Gieni scored a touchdown for SJD while Nick Wegener kicked a convert and a single on a kickoff. Joey Storozuk scored the lone major for Bawating.

Junior action continues on Saturday as Korah visits White Pines at 10 a.m.
