Figure skaters are being invited to ‘Bring ON the Fun’ this weekend.
Hosted by Lake Superior Figure Skating Club, the event goes Saturday at the John Rhodes Arena from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event is a Skate Ontario performance and development opportunity “providing figure skaters with team-based, fun experiences in a variety of categories and contests to foster team spirit and comaraderie.”
“All participants are provided with feedback from coaches/assessors or Skate Ontario officials,” said the skating club in a news release.
“Skaters will receive ribbons for all categories, and awards/recognition for Skills Contests.”
Events include Star 1-4 Free Skate, Creative Elements, Team Elements, Creative Improve and Showcase.
There will also be contests for longest spiral, longest one foot glide and longest forward upright spin, and awards for Team Spirit, Best Costume and Best Decorated Section/Banner.
“The Bring ON the Fun event is a great opportunity for skaters to have fun and showcase the skills they have learned this season without the pressure of an official competition,” said Kerry Bain, head coach and director of skating.
“The event is open to the public. These skaters have had a great season learning and developing new skills, and they’re excited to show you what they’ve been working on.”
