The Sarnia Sting stung the Soo Greyhounds for three goals early and held on for a 6-3 Ontario Hockey League win on Sunday afternoon.

By the time the game was 8:43 old, the Sting clung to a 3-0 lead as Mark Katic and Ryan Wilson scored on the power play while Trevor Kell added another at even strength.

The Hounds did answer back with a goal before the period was out as Dustin Jeffrey notched his fifth of the year.

The second period saw three more power play goals as Mike Roelofsen and Steven Stamkos found the net for the Sting while Josh Godfrey countered for the Greyhounds.

Jeffrey's second goal of the game with the man advantage early in the third period pulled the Hounds back to within two goals at 5-3 but Wilson's second goal for Sarnia salted away the win.

Michael Quesnele picked up a pair of assists for the Greyhounds while Godfrey added one. Kyle Gajewski stopped 19 of 25 shots in the loss while the Hounds fired 30 shots at the Sting.

The Greyhounds sit at 2-2-1 on the season with three more road games to play before the Steelback Centre opener on October 11. The Hounds now travel to Barrie on Thursday, Guelph on Friday and Oshawa on Sunday.
