Action in the local high school hockey league continued with five games over the weekend.

On triple-header Saturday at Memorial Gardens, the White Pines Wolverines broke a 2-2 tie with three goals in the third period to skate to a 5-2 win over the Korah Colts.

Chris DiPaulo, Josh Reed, Tyler Lorenzo, Chris Spring and Adam Stevenson scored for the Wolverines while Luke Critchley replied with both goals for the Colts.

Jason Dias and Matt Kudyba scored twice each to lead the St. Mary’s Knights past the Bawating Braves 10-1. Andrew Matthews scored a late goal for the Braves to spoil the shutout bid of Kinghts’ goaltender Peter Filioglou.

In another game, the Sir James Dunn Eagles used two goals from Graham Dalseg and one each from Ari Vitala and Brad Hernden in a 4-2 win over the St. Basil Saints. Anthony Spina and Andrew Naphan scored for the Saints.

*** FRIDAY’S ACTION:

In a game with a playoff-type atmosphere, St. Mary’s grabbed a 2-0 lead and held on for a 2-1 win over Sir James Dunn.

All three goals were scored in a two minute span in the second period. Jordan Casola and Anthony Amadio scored for the Knights while Tyler Robinson replied with a power play goal for the Eagles.

In another contest, Bill Evoy scored twice to lead the CASS Huskies past Korah 6-2. Brian Rollie, Calahan Spurway, Kyle Brick and Adam Crack also scored for the Huskies while Daniel Ferris and Bob Hammerstedt replied for the Colts.

*** UPCOMING ACTION:

League play resumes on Wednesday with a pair of games at the John Rhodes Community Centre. White Pines meets St. Mary’s at 7 p.m. followed by CASS and St. Basil at 8:45 p.m.

On Saturday at the Gardens, St. Basil plays Korah at 6 p.m. followed by White Pines and Bawating at 7:45 p.m.
