Dan Kennedy scored a pair of touchdowns and led the Eagles defense with 6.5 tackles in a 33-0 win over the Saints at Rocky DiPietro Field.

The Eagles finish the High School Football League senior division schedule at 3-2 while the Saints finish winless at 0-4-1. With all six teams qualifying for the playoffs, both teams will have a playoff game next week.

Craig Johnson set the tone for Eagles on the first offense play of the game as Johnson broke open a 43 yard run. Kennedy scored the game's first two touchdowns on runs of 16 and five yards in the first quarter.

In the second half, Nigel Milne scored a touchdown on a six yard run, Johnson hauled in a nine yard touchdown pass from quarterback Frank Weise and Jake Kallio returned a fumble 105 yards for a touchdown to complete the Eagles scoring. Weise kicked three of five convert attempts.

Kofi Osei led a balanced Eagles rushing attack with 73 yards on nine carries while Milne added 67 yards on eight carries, Johnson gained 60 yards on four attempts and Kennedy scampered 50 yards on four rushes. Weise completed four of five pass attempts for 69 yards including two passes to Kennedy for 24 yards and one to Dave McFadden for 26 yards. Art Dawe added 4.5 tackles and Mike Beharriell four for the Eagles defense. Kennedy and Johnson recorded interceptions.

Quarterback Peter Macnamara completed 13 of 32 pass attempts for 142 yards for the Saints. Ryan Mitchell caught eight passes for 92 yards. Mike Morotta led the Saints defense with seven tackles and Mark Porco added four.

Senior action continues on Friday with two games scheduled for Rocky DiPietro Field to conclude the regular season. Bawating (1-2-1) tackles St. Mary's (4-0) at 4 p.m. followed by White Pines (1-3) and Korah (3-1) at 7:30 p.m.

In junior division play on Thursday, Kyle Hoffman scored four touchdowns as St. Basil powered past Sir James Dunn 27-14. Jake Burmaster and Nic Lang scored touchdowns for the Eagles.

In junior action on Friday, Bawating visits St. Mary's at 4:15 p.m. On Saturday, White Pines travels to Korah at 10 a.m.

*** GIRLS BASKETBALL:

St. Basil and St. Mary's both swept their junior and senior double headers on Thursday in high school girls basketball action.

At St. Basil, Kaitlin DeBoer poured in 18 points and Heidi Jaaskelainen added eight to pace the Saints past the White Pines Wolverines 59-30 in the senior contest. Crystal Eisler and Holly Maskell scored nine points each for the Wolverines.

In the junior game, Kristy Aloe and Adrianna Bruni scored 10 points each to lead St. Basil past White Pines 44-19. Miriam Pinder replied with six points and Bridget Hindermeier four for the Wolverines.

At Bawating, Jennifer Sweezey scored 11 points and Jessica Sicoly seven to led the St. Mary's Knights past the Braves 42-30. Stephanie Thayer led the Braves with 11 points while Kristen Timusk added eight.

In junior, the Knights beat the Braves 69-23. Kathleen Thorburn scored 18 points for St. Mary's and Kira Favaro added 11. The Braves were led by Sarah Crispell's eight points and Amanda Whitmell's seven.

Games between Sir James Dunn and Mount St. Joseph was postponed while Korah enjoyed a bye.

Action returns to the court next Tuesday as Korah hosts Bawating, Sir James Dunn travels to St. Mary's and St. Basil will visit Mount St. Joseph College. Junior games begin at 4:15 p.m. followed by the senior games at 5:45 p.m.
