Hockey season is slowly beginning to kick off as three local ‘AAA’ teams have their tryout schedules set.

The Soo Thunder bantams are in the midst of their tryouts, which opened on Friday evening at the John Rhodes Community Centre. The tryouts continue this week beginning tonight from 8:30 to 10 p.m. at the John Rhodes. The rest of the tryouts are as follows:

Aug. 22: 5-7 p.m. (Pee Wee Arena) Aug. 23: 8:30-10 p.m. (John Rhodes) Aug. 24: 8:30-10 p.m. (John Rhodes) Aug. 26: 2-4 p.m. (Pee Wee)

The Soo Greyhounds ‘AAA’ Bantam team kicked off their tryouts over the weekend as well.

After a pair of tryout dates on the weekend, the rest of the Bantam Hounds schedule is as follows (all sessions at the John Rhodes):

Aug. 22-23: 3-5 p.m. Aug. 24: 6-8 p.m. Aug 28: 5:30-7 p.m. Aug. 29-31: Practices, time to be determined

As for the Soo North Stars, the defending Great North Midget League champions have set their tryout dates for later this month.

The North Stars will open their tryouts on Aug. 29 at 5 p.m. at the John Rhodes arena and will continue the next night at the same time. Sept. 5 will see the North Stgars hold their final tryout beginning at 5:30 p.m.
